How to Use Re-Mov Silicone & Adhesive Remover
As a rule of thumb, Re-Mov works on products which do not harden, i.e., most caulks, contact adhesives, labels, decals, tape residue, gum, sap, tar. Hardened products such as Super Glue, two-part epoxies, urethane floor coatings and varnishes cannot be removed.
Caulking
For silicone, polyurethane, and polysulfide caulks, cut away any excess caulking. Apply Re-Mov onto the edge(s) of the bond area with a putty knife or scraper. The product will work its way under the caulk to release the bond from the substrate. If the residue remains, simply re-spray the area and wipe it clean with a terry type cloth. Re-Mov will not affect the adhesion of any caulking which may be inadvertently wet unless edges are specifically worked underneath. Either wipe dry or allow to evaporate.
Contact Cement / Glue / Liquid Nails™ / Mirror mastics
Coat the area and soak for several minutes. The longer it remains on the adhesive, the easier your job becomes. Wipe the area with a clean cloth. If any residue remains, repeat the first step. When using on carpets or headliners, spray the surface heavily, wait at least 15 minutes and test a portion of the item to be removed. If the item remains secure, re-apply and wait an additional 15 minutes before removing the item. With Liquid Nails™ if wet: just spray and wipe, if dry: spray and let stand for 30 minutes minimum then pick up Liquid
Nails™ residue and dispose of.
General Tapes / Duct Tapes / VHB and UHB Tapes / PSA / Labels / Stickers / Decals / Protective Film
Spray the item to be removed and allow to soak for one minute. Re-Mov will penetrate from the edges inward. Use a sharp-edged, flexible object to create a viable fringe of material to grab onto and re-apply. Slowly begin pulling away the established edge from the substrate while applying additional spray as needed when tension occurs. It should pull away with ease.
Gum
To remove gum from carpets, clothing or fabric spray and allow to soak for one minute. Rub the area with your fingers or stiff nylon brush. As gum clumps, remove with a clean dry cloth. Repeat as required.
Sap / Tar / Grease / Oil Sap, Tar
Grease and Oil will readily dissolve, just spray, wait, and wipe. Repeat as required.
